If you perform a quick Internet search for “when and how will I die?,” you’ll see that many sites claim to offer you this information. Why are there so many ways to supposedly learn about your death? Clearly, many people have an intense interest in learning how their deaths will occur.

But we must wonder: If you actually had this knowledge about yourself, how would your life change as a result?

Consider your motives for trying to learn in advance about your death. Is it merely the fear of death and dying? If so, would you spend the time you have left in continued fear, counting down the days and minutes until the fateful day arrived?

Is your motive selfishness? Knowing your expiration date, would you spend your remaining time indulging in every fantasy you ever had, regardless of the consequences to yourself or others?

Knowing the circumstances of your death, would you try to avoid those circumstances? If your death was from heart disease, would you quit smoking? Become vegetarian? Try your hardest to avoid your predicted death and circumvent the prophecy in any way possible?

You might have other motives or other ideas for wanting to know when and how you will die. The uncertainty of death and dying leads people to think and do many strange things. Sometimes the uncertainty removes a person’s ability to enjoy life at all.

It is our hope that the truth about death will relieve your fears and burdens about the subject and allow you to enjoy your life to the fullest while you still have it.
